The world is rapidly becoming digital as “software is eating up the world” (quote Marc Andreesen). This surge in complexity demands a shift in focus to resiliency, as complete digital security is a dream. This is where I thrive, utilizing my curiosity and vast experience to create value for my customers.

My primary skill is to quickly understand my clients’ business, assess their maturity and organization, and identify the value-adding actions – always from a business perspective, but equally as the technical Subject Matter Expert on threats towards the digital economy and increasingly as the security governance expert.

I like to think of myself as “the Swiss army-knife” of cybersecurity. As a “1st generation CISO”, having taken on the role around the turn of the century, when nobody knew what it included, I have been aboard the full journey from security tech-specialist to strategic CISO. And in the role as freelance consultant I have helped a multitude of clients, increasingly as the “translator” between tech and business, as the risk interpreter and often as the experienced voice in maturing young teams.

In recent years, emphasis has been on the CHANGE needed to get in control of cybersecurity, particularly by having the ability to use digitalisation as the lens: spotting processes that can run on its own, switching off what no longer creates value, and redesigning the rest for a smarter reality. My focus has moved from infrastructure over software to AI in recent years.
